History
of the Eldredge House, circa 1780
Country Charm... by
The Sea
The
historic Eldredge House is the oldest operating Inn in Cape May
- originally home to Thomas Eldredge and his sister, Mary, who
both helped settle the Cape May region.
The
Eldredge Family, direct descendants of The Mayflower, originally
settled in Falmouth, Massachusetts. A ship pilot, importer and
farmer, Thomas' sprawling acreage made the perfect setting for
his original homestead.
The Eldredge House is a featured on Historic Home Tours with Mid-
Atlantic Center for The Arts throughout the year. It is located
just far enough from the busy crowds, but close enough to walk
everywhere in town. The Cove Beach, Historic District, and Washington
Street Mall are only a liesurely 10-minute stroll away.
Situated
between the beach, shopping and several vineyards, The Eldredge
House is a great place to relax and unwind. The small number of
rooms also allows you to feel like you "own the place."
We hope to see you in Cape May soon.
